Har-Ki-Dun Trek

    This is good trek for a small group and nature excursion since the valley is full of flora and fauna. One can spend time with herbs & shrubs for medicinal purpose. Also photography too has great area to snaps for variety of birds & nature. This is a holly place. Also it is a base of Swargarohini ht. 21000 ft. In our old granth (books) it is mentioned that Pandav went to Swarga (Heavan) through this mountain. This is a place where you can find  Trees of Bhojpatra flower Bramhakamal. Swargarohini and Jaundar Glacier is at south-east of Har-ki-dun. Towards west you can see Bandar Punch. Duryodhan is a God of few community here, you can find temple of Duryodhan. People servives on farming Rice, Rajma, Charas. They use wood of Deodar tree for their house. You can find many people using Hukka for smoking. One can smell of pine while having hukka. Also because of popularity of this area for trekking Portary is another way to earn for locals here. They generally work under thekedar. 

      To reach here first stop will be Dehradun. From Dehradun you should go to Sankri(150 Km). From Sankri actual trek starts. You may experience many landslides on the way. Accordingly you should arrange your schedule. Next stop  is Taluka 13 km away from Sankri. From Taluka to Seema is 16 km. From Seema to Har-ki-dun a 14 km strenuous walk. Once you reach to the destination you will forget the tiring walk & enjoy the beauty. It's better to walk early morning else you need to face changing atmosphere. You can spend a day for visit to Jaundar Glacier. You can find UP forest house for rest or Gadhwal Nigam's Rest house for stay. They cost Rs. 100 for a day. You should book months before the trek to avoid discomfort.
