My First ever Himalayan Mountain climbing happened here at Mount Patalsu in my first visit of Manali for the Beas Kund Trek in 1995. Our guide was Koyluram Thakur of Palchan village which is at the base of Solang Nalah.

Manali is a tourist city and one can see many outsiders while walking on the street near the Bus Depot. Their are many tourist spots one can approach from Manali like Vashist Hot water sring, Hidimba Temple, Jagatsukh, Rohtang Pass etc. Many trek routes starts from here. Our Ex-Prime Minister Atalbihari Vajpay's house are in Manali.

About Mountaineering one can see many trekking peaks like Friendship Shitidhar, Manali etc. exist in this region. Towards Jagatsukh mountains like Deotibba is frequently attempted every year. Their are plenty Skiing, Para Gliding opportunity in Solang and like areas. Manali has mountaineering institute situated in the heart of the city.
